The date palm has been Iraq's tree of life since the dawn of history. Along the Tigris, the euphrates, and the Shatt al-Arab, the country once held more than thirty million palms and stood as the world's foremost producer of dates — a fruit cultivated here since Sumerian times and oven through Mesopotamian poetry, religion, and daily life. Generous with food, shade, and shelter, the date palm remains one of the most enduring and beloved symbols of Iraq.
964 is the international calling code for Iraq: the three digits that connect every Iraqi back home, wherever in the world they are. Rendered in the red, white, and black of the Iraqi flag and accented with the green of its takbir, it carries the heritage and pride of Iraq across generations.
